Who we are...
Student Ministry exists for two purposes - to know Christ and to make Him known. We at FBCT believe that we must do everything in our power to give our students every advantage to contend for the faith in culture. Therefore, the Student Ministry of First Baptist Church Temple takes seriously the spiritual, social and relational development of teenagers. We equip students at FBCT by understanding:
-
The Student Ministry at FBCT is PURPOSE DRIVEN: That means that we have core values that we believe every student should be exposed to and understand during their time at FBCT. It also means that every event has a PURPOSE in meeting one or many of those values.
-
WE ARE NOT ENTERTAINMENT/EVENT DRIVEN: Research has been done stating that students do not desire to be entertained at church. They are in entertainment overload and seek genuine love and acceptance from a youth group. We will never do an event or build into our weekly schedule anything that is solely used to entertain, nor will we do events just for the sake of having an event.
-
It is our desire to use our weekly opportunities to teach students truth and give them answers to life's tough questions.
-
Every event we do will speak to the core values we have set for our ministry.
-
We will use every opportunity (teachable moments) to point kids toward Jesus.
-
We evaluate every idea, suggestion and comment about Student Ministry and prioritize the level of effectiveness when faced with support opposition.
-
Student Ministry will be real, effective, useful and most of all FUN!!!!
