Thursday, February 11

Our church leaders and staff continue to work hard and make progress in dealing with the destruction of the January 19 church fire. At this point leaders are aware of the following:

Sanctuary, Building A & ConneXion
Our Sanctury, Building A (offices, adult education, Fellowship Hall) and the ConneXion are a total loss.

Building B
Because our Adult Education Building sustained heavy water and smoke damage, it is being dried out and stripped down to the two by fours. Except for a majority of the library books, almost all contents have been destroyed. It is unknown when this building will be able to be occupied.

Building C
Because our Children's Building sustained water and smoke damage, it is being dried out. All flooring and ceiling tiles have been removed. What contents are salvageable are being cleaned. It is unknown when this building will be able to be occupied.

Building D
This is the old Piggly Wiggly building and contents were not damage. But because the building has no power, we are working on getting the power back on as soon as possible. Time for occupancy is unknown.

Building E
The only damage to this old 7-11 building was the roof and it is without power. We are working on getting the power back on as soon as possible. Time for occupancy is unknown.

Office Space
Currently, our church offices are in the Edge Youth Building. Progress continues to be made in moving our offices to new office space at 204 W Calhoun. Hopefully, the move will take place within the next few days.

Insurance
Some have asked if our church has property insurance. We do, and we are working closely with our insurance company, Church Mutual, to prepare the proper documents for our claim. This will be an ongoing and long process.

It has been stated by various television and newspaper sources that that our total loss is estimated to be $15 million. This did not come from our insurance company nor from our church leaders. This information should be disregarded. Right now we do not know what the costs will be.

Strategic Plans
Our church's Strategy Committee (Marcia Pope - Chair), Stewardship Committee (Rod Deyoe - Chair), and Facilities Committee (Jerry Gibson - Chair) are meeting frequently and staying up-to-date on how recovery efforts are going.

As voted on by our church, our Strategy Committee continues to work on strategic plans for our church's future. Strategy Committee members are: Marcia Pope (Chair), Rodney Deyoe (Vice-Chair), Tresa McNeal (Secretary), Tom Denson, Cheryl Jones, Marty McMahone, Wanda Wesson, and Jim Wurster. Please keep them in your prayers.

All church members are being asked to offer the following:
PRAY
PRAISE
PATIENCE
PRESENCE
PARTICIPATION

We encourage everyone to check back at our church's web site: www.fbc-temple.org for the latest church information.
