English as a Second Language
ESL is a community mission outreach teaching conversational English to adult, foreign born Temple residents. Through ESL, we develop relationships and trust by meeting people's need to better communicate in English with their children's teachers, with bosses and co-workers, with merchants, etc. Helping people meet this need opens the door for effective communication through spiritual matters and provides us with the opportunity to demonstrate Christ's live through examples and personal witnessing. Enrollment is continuous through each semester. Four levels of classes are held each Wednesday from 6:00 to 7:10 pm, starting in September through December and January through April.

Opportunities for Service:
Teach or assist teachers each Wednesday night. You do not have to know another language or be a professional teacher to teach conversational english. Resource materials and training are provided.
Substitute for a teacher who is unable to attend on a particular night.
Greet students at the door each Wednesday night between 5:50 and 6:40 pm. Greeters also assist parents in getting children to childcare and escort new students to enrollment area.
Interview new students for class placement through use of structured placement interview material and assignment to appropriate class level.
Assist with miscellaneous responsibilities on Wednesdays.
