Below is a list of our local missions. If you would be interested in serving, contact: kbacon@fbc-temple Discipleship Unlimited - Prison Ministry Our Prison Ministry has partnered with Linda Strom's Discipleship Unlimited team and Kathy Diaz from the Bell Baptist Association. A group goes into the prison twice a month on Thursdays to lead Bible studies and worship with the inmates. ___________________ Angel Tree - A Prison Ministry - Cheryl Jones Since its beginning in 1982, Angel Tree Christmas has touched the lives of children whose parent or parents are incarcerated. Through the loving participation of thousands of churches across the nation, local children of prisoners receive two gifts: one is a toy and one is an article of clothing. Our church members deliver the gifts to the children in our area. The gifts are given in the name of the absent parent and Jesus. ___________________ Family Promise - Marcia Pope Throughout the year homeless families stay at our church for one week at a time. During this week, some 205 hours are filled by volunteers who sleep over, prepare meals, and help set-up and take down. ___________________ Churches Touching Lives for Christ - Lois Booth CTLC is an evangelical cooperative ministry of churches working together to meet needs of individuals in order to introduce them to Christ. CTLC provides food, clothing, help with prescriptions, gasoline, transportation and emergency utility assistance. ___________________ Mission Temple Week The purpose of Mission Temple is to encourage our church members to reach out to Temple and Bell County. We want to share Jesus, show others His love, encourage, give of our time and talents, form relationships, invite people to church and invite people to know Jesus as their personal Savior. Each Life Group is asked to participate. Please send a mission representative from your class to a mission advocate meeting. Dates TBA. ___________________ Feed My Sheep The second Saturday of each month, some of our Life Groups will be serving a hot meal at lunch and handing out a brown bag dinner to take with our homeless here in Temple. We will be having quarterly food drives to help supply the food needed for these classes to provide the meals. We also have a fund set up for "Feed My Sheep" - If you choose to contribute, please CLICK HERE to go to the online form. **Make sure you enter a note in the "Designated Offering" box as to where the donation should be applied. The Salvatuion Army has estimated that we will need to prepare for 75 people. If you or your class wishes to be part of this mission, please contact Kay Bacon or Carla in the Mission Office. ___________________ Kids Against Hunger - Jerry and Madiene Gibson Kids Against Hunger's purpose is to provide fully nutritious food to impoverished children around the world.
